Welcome to Sierra Steeltiles.

Sierra Steeltiles were born in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California in the early 1970’s. They quickly became the roofing of choice in many mountain areas, including Kirkwood Meadows, where some of the toughest weather conditions in America are found.

Made from weathering steel (A606), they develop an oxide patina that protects the base metal from the elements, eliminating the need for painting.

Nearly 50 years later these very same Sierra Steeltiles are still in service as you’ll see in many other photos on our website.

This beautiful Sierra Steeltile roof has endured more than 40 severe winters in Kirkwood, California. It is nestled at the foot of a ski area that recorded 788" of snow (YES: 65 Feet) in the winter of 1982-83. In 1986, in the month of February alone, 277" (23') of snow fell here.

The owner of this magnificent property invented Steeltiles to protect and beautify his home in the 1970s. This roof is on track to last 75 years or more.
